Nov. 10, 2008- AVWPE and the City of Lamar are pleased to announce a full week of holiday concerts for your listening pleasure during the first week of December 2008. Concert attendees will have a unique opportunity to enjoy extended holiday hours by downtown retailers while attending. Ron Stock, city administrator, has gratiously provided free cookies, cider & cocoa for each concert for the entire week. The special concerts, art show and refreshments are all provided free of charge and we hope everyone in our communities will enjoy a holiday season filled with Joy and Peace. Membership in our concert and(or) JAZZ band programs is voluntary and no audition is required. Playing ability should be at a high school level or above and membership is open to anyone 18 years of age or older. Our concert band and JAZZ band programs meet on Tuesday evenings at the newly opened Shore Arts Center located at 115 S. Main in Lamar, Colorado from January through April and from August through December beginning at 6:30pm-7:45pm (concert) and 7:45pm-9:00pm (JAZZ).
Our concert band program is led by Mrs. Christi Ludwig. Christi graduated with a BA in Music Education from Ithaca College in New York in 1991. Christi received her Masters in Music from Eastern New Mexico Universtiy in 1996. Christi also teaches general Music at Washington Elementary in Lamar, CO.
Our JAZZ band program is led by Mr. David Northrup.
